Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawn mower wont start, starter solenoid, briggs stratton

Question
I have a Murray riding mower model 46901x92A, engine is Briggs& Stratton 16hp TwinII, model 402702, type 124 01, code 9402055B.  I have had trouble keeping my mower running.  I bought a new battery & charged it.  The engine turned over but wouldn't start.  My husband (a great believer in spraying starter fluid in the oil filter) got it started but when I mowed, the engine died when it got hot, after mowing about 45 min., and then wouldn't start.  It sounded like it was running out of gas but the tank was over half full. It slowed down, I turned the blade off and the engine revived up again. Then it died.  My husband decided the solenoid needed to be replaced and now it won't even turn over. Nothing, nada, no sound and no lights.  What can he have done to it?

Answer
 Hello Patsy:

Which Solenoid did he Replace? The Starter Solenoid or the Fuel Shut Off Solenoid on the Carburetor? Check the Fuse. If he Changed the Starter Solenoid, he May have Blown the Fuse. If the Starter Solenoid was Replaced, then Check the Small Leads at the Base of the Solenoid. When we get Power to the Mower Again, we can Work on the Running Problem. Check the Type Numbers, Please. There should be 4 Numbers before the 01. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
