Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): John Deere JS60, free wheels, strange noise

Question
John,
I have a JS60 about 7 years old.  Last fall, as I remember it, the last time I tried to start it seemed to have NO compression. I don't remember any problem I was running it. The engine just free wheels when I pull the rope, just like the spark plug is removed.  With plug out, I can't tell any difference.  I assume a valve problem of some kind. DON'T hear any strange noise like if something is broken. Thanks for your help,  Gordon

Answer
 Hello Gordon:

With the Spark Plug Out; Can you Feel or Hear Air Being Pushed and Pulled In and Out of the Plug Hole. If Yes, then Check the Valves. If No, then the Connecting Rod has Broken and the Piston Isnt Moving. To Repair this will Either be a Engine Rebuild or a Short Block. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
