Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Homelite leaf blower, plug cap, nevad

Question
QUESTION: Hi John, I got a 2 year old leaf blower that died on me. The carb over flows just by sitting in my garage. It is getting gas and has spark. The spark plug cap has a small arrow on it; ON OFF, I have tryed to turn it and push it down on the spark plug but still no luck in starting the engine. Do you have any idea what is wrong? I would sure like to hear from you before I go spend $100 on a new one.
Thanks

ANSWER:   Hello Nicki:

 The Reason for the Gas Leaking Out of the Carburetor May be the Gas Cap Not Venting Properly or Carburetor Pulse Needle is Sticking. This would also Explain the Blower Not Starting. Remove the Muffler and Ensure the Exhaust Port and Muffler are Not Clogged with Carbon. If the Exhaust Port and Muffler are Clear, then Remove, Disassemble and Soak the Carburetor Overnight in Carburetor Cleaner and then Blow Out the Passages with Compressed Air. Install New Kit. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Blower, Please. With these I can Locate a Breakdown/IPL and Better Assist you. Thanks.

 Good Luck

QUESTION: Hi John, Thank you very much for getting back to me so fast.
The only numbers I can find on the leaf blower are;
s/n ag2730296 09-04 and ?? 08934
Model is called Vac Attac II
I have cleaned out the carb, but not taken the Muffler off yet. I have also tryed to spray carb cleaner direct in to the air intake, still nothing (not even a "cough" )
Thank you for all your help

Answer
 Hello Again Nicki:

 Go to this Addy http://www.homelite.com/parts/index.htm and Select Go to Homelite Parts Store. Then Enter the UT-08934 and Click Search. Then Double Click on your Blower and it will Open a New Window and Download a Breakdown/IPL of your Blower. If you Have Fire, Compression and Fuel, thenthe Only other Reason for Not Starting is the Flywheel Key is Damaged. Removal of the Flywheel is Required to Inspect the Key. This Key Times the Firing of the Plug with the Position of the Piston on the Compression Stroke. If this Key is Damaged, the Engine will Fire, Just Not at the Proper Time and Therefore the Engine will Not Start. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Thanks.

 Good Luck
