Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Sears/Craftsman 5hp Briggs, Chipper-shredder, Impeller removal, sears craftsman, chipper shredder

Question
What would be the best way to remove the impeller from our 5hp Sears Chipper-shredder, model # 247.796891?

We have already removed all the shrouds, and the motor is off of the shredder as we plan to use it for another purpose.

There was a bolt in the end of the crankshaft, and it has been removed.

Thanks for any information that you can give me.

Answer
 Hello Scott:

Does the Impeller have the Puller holes? If Yes, Attach your Puller and Tighten. Then Tap on the Pullet Bolt Head and Vibriate the Impeller and Crankshaft. Usually the Pressure from the Puller and the Vibration will cause the Impeller to Start to Work Itself Off the Crankshaft. If Not, then Use Heat on the Impeller to Expand the Impellar Away from the Crankshaft. If there are No Holes for the Puller, then you will have to McGuiver a Puller Set up as I did. Im Not Paying 175.00 for a Puller Rig I Made for Less than 50.00. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require More Assistance. Thanks.

 Good Luck
