Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): JD SX75, sectional view, time hope

Question
I have a JD SX75 with what I belive is a Kawasaki FC290 engine that will not start.  It appears to be gettig gas and the plug has spark when I hold it against the block and crank the engine.  Even with a new plug, the spark on the plug seems to be several smaller sparks instead of one large spark that I am acustomed to.  Could this be an ignition module/coil problem or some other problem?

Answer
 Hello Paul:

You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Add http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers SX75 and Click Find. Then Click on the Model in the Results Area. the Select Sectional View. Then Select Engine. Then Select Engine Electrical. With this Engine having Spark, I would Check the Compression First. Have you Put a Small Amount of Gas Into the Carburetor Throat? What Happens? Is the Flywheel Key Damaged? If the Key is Damaged, then the Engine will Fire, but Not at the Correct Time. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
