Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawn Vac wont start?, safety switches, new spark

Hi i just picked up a Lawn Vac from a lady. She said it needed a new spark plug so i replaced that and also changed the gas. It will still not start at all. It won't even try to fire. I also used starting spay but it would not start. I do not think it is getting spark. If it is not getting spark what is the next step i should take to finding out what mite be the problem? thanks

How old is it?  If the engine is 1981 or newer then you can remove the metal engine shroud to access the coil.  Disconnect the small ground on the ignition coil and check for spark.

Also, check for safety switchs on the vac housing.  There are generaly at least one or two safety switches.
