Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): small honda engine reving to high, honda engine, govenor

Question
Hi Ron,

I'm having a problem with a snowblower that I found. Model hs35 with g150 honda engine.   I cleaned the carb and but back on. when I run the engine it's reving very very fast - too fast. This is a fixed speed unit.  when I checked the govenor it pushed the throttle wide open on the carb when engine is running.  the only way I can get the engine to throttle down is choke it  or push the govenor arm over with my hand but when I let go it goes back to full throttle.  Is their a problem with the internal govenor parts? When the engine is running should the govenor arm move back to close the throttle a little.  Is the carburator giving the engine too much gas now?  There is a spring at the bottom of the govenor arm forcing the arm to open the throttle - Should I stretch the spring to lessen the force holding the throttle open?

It's my believe that the govenor internally is not doing its job and that perhaps something inside the engine is damaged.

Answer
 Hello Bob:

You are Correct. The Internal Governor isn't Working Properly. The Governor will need to be Repaired in Order for the Engine to Operate Properly. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
