Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 521 Toro Snow Thrower- gas dribbles out of primer bulb hole, snow thrower, center hole

Question
I recently gave my 1990 4 cycle Toro a tune up.  It has developed a condition of spitting gasoline out the center hole of the primer bulb.  I asked a Toro repairman about this when I stopped in to get a new muffler, primer bulb and gas line, and spark plug.  He told me that he doubted any of the new parts would guarantee success with the spitting gas.  He suggested I look for a plugged up breather hole on the side of the carburetor.  I replaced the parts and removed the carburetor.  It has no breather hole.  I suspect the primer bulb acts as the breather hole for this model.  The Toro still spits bubbly gasoline occasionally.  Do you have any suggestions as to what may be causing gasoline to move from the carburetor uphill to the primer bulb and spit out?

Perplexed,
Jim

Answer
Sounds like you have a bad float, needle or seat in the carburetor.  If you take the carb apart remove the float and shake it next to your ear.  You will be able to hear if any gas has leaked inside it.  As for the needle and seat this should be available at any repair shop.  Good Luck!
