Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): TRANNY, high pitch, automatic transmission

I HAVE A CRAFTSMAN 42IN 18HP AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION.  THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING.  I CAN BE DRIVING ALONG AND IT WILL STOP AND MAKE A HIGH PITCH NOISE.  I CAN PUT IN REVERSE AND IT WILL CONTINUE FOR A LITTLE WHILE LONGER.  IT CONTINUES TO DO IT AND IT IS GETTING WORSE

 Hello Dan:

 Have you Checked the Drive Belt and the Idlers? If the Belt is Stretched or the Bearings of an Idler is Bad this will Occur. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require More Assistance. Thanks.
