Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh starts and stops, coleman generator, hp engine

Question
The Tecumseh 10 hp engine on my Coleman generator starts immediately, runs for about a minute then stops. It will then start right up again but die immediately. This continues for several minutes until eventually it continues to run and works just fine. During this time when it is dying almost immediately after it starts the on/off switch which has a low oil light flashes like it is indicating low oil. However I've checked the oil and it was fine. I changed it as well but still the same sequence of start/stop, start/stop then run fine keeps happening. Could the sensor that reads the oil pressure be failing and causing the engine to die like this? Or does that light flash any time the engine dies?

Answer
Sounds like it is the low oil sensor.  When the sensor grounds out the ignition it redirects the voltage through the light in the switch and then to engine ground and thus causes it to flash.  It is actually a float type switch and not a pressure sensor.  Hope this gets you going.
