Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Installing a primer bulb, snap ring, soapy water

I have a LawnBoy 720e (Toro CCR1000) series snowthrower. The old primer bulb fell apart and I have received a replacement.
Is there a trick to installing / stretching the bulb on the primer? Does the top shroud have to be completely removed?

PS I don't believe their is a snap ring, It appears the ring is incorporated in the Primer-Bulb

Yes, the ring is incorporated in the primer bulb.  

The trick is to remove the little white holder under the bulb.  This way you can have both the bulb and holder in-hand to put them together, then reinstall.  

It may help to lubricate the inside of the bulb with a little soapy water first.  Also, assure that you're fitting it into that first lip.
