Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh 5.5 hp Snowking, govener, linkages

Question
I have a 5.5 hp Tecumseh snowblower. Getting ready for winter here in New England. Tried to start it last week. Nothing. I took the carb apart and cleaned it. Reassembled. Now the engine will start and will continue running, with the choke about quarter closed. Will stall if i open it full ( no choke). Exhaust smells rich too when it is running. It appears this particular carb has no internal adjustments, besides throttle, govener and choke  linkages on the outside. There is the nut that hold the bowl assembly together..with a hole thru it, that would be inside the bowl. Does this posssibly have anything to do with the rough idle and rich running motor? What else could it be? Thanks (p.s I cleaned it really good and put it together as it came apart..except for that screw...forgot to count how many turns when i removed it)

Answer
hello,  hopefully you emptied tank and are starting off with fresh fuel.  that bowl nut you speak of,  yes it has a hole throught it, but there is also a very VERY!! small hole throught side close to treads which runs on an angle. it MUST !!! be cleaned out.
carb setting is one and one half turns out from  bottom, and the bowl nut is to be tight against the bowl.  adjust or tweak setting either way  after it is running.
