Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Ignition Module, coil ignition, test meter

Question
This is my second post on my Sears 358.79721 no spark problem. I checked the switch and wiring and they are ok. I removed the ignition module (Phelon 31837). There is abut 200 ohms between the terminal on the module and the metal frame of the module. Just trying to find out if the module is defective before I purchase one.

Thanks

Answer
 Hello Basil:

If the Spark Plug and Switch are Good and there is Still No Fire at the Plug, then then Coil/Ignition Module is Bad. A Coil Can't be Tested with a Meter. The Old Type Coils were Just Coils and a Test Meter could be Used to Check them. The Newer Coils have the Ignition Diode if you Will the Takes the Place of the Contact Set. They Either Fire the Plug of they Don't. When the Magnet on the Flywheel Passes the Coil/Ignition Module and the Coil/Ignition Module Shutoff Wire Isn't Grounded, then the Coil/Ignition Module Will Fire the Plug if the Coil/Ignition Module is Good. Replace the Coil/Ignition Module. The Sears Part Number is 530.039137. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
