Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): gas in oil sump, chipper shredder, tecumseh engine

Question
There is gasoline in the oil sump of my 7 hp Tecumseh engine on a Troy-built chipper/shredder (engine model HM80, spec. no. 155000P, serial no. 5001A). I drained the gas and oil from their respective tanks and let dry; then I refilled with fresh gas and oil to indicated levels. Engine started and ran fine for ten minutes, then I shut it off.

Overnight, gas got into the oil sump and there were leak marks on the pavement. Gas is obviously leaking into the sump; I pulled the dipstick and gas was up to the opening.

While recently transporting the chipper in my pickup, I had to brake suddenly and the chipper tipped over in the bed of the truck. I righted immediately, but am pretty sure that's the cause of my troubles.

Is this a repair I can do myself? Is it a matter of removing cover plates and inspecting, replacing gas line? Owner's manual doesn't cover this.

Answer
stuck  or bad valves.   carb  flooding problem.
the needle and seat under the float in carb   is not shuting off the fuel flow when not running.
i have had a no win deal on one of these stuburn motors of my own.
with out spending a great deal of time or money i ended up putting a fuel shut off valve in gas line. when i was done... i turned it off and ran engine dry????  just a thought.
