-----Question-----
Have a 5 horse B.& S. horizontal on an old "Little Skipper" snowmobile. It starts first pull and runs great for about 10 minutes, then dies and won't start again until it cools, maybe 10 minutes.  Any ideas? I was thinking...could it be as serious as crank seals?..or as simple as carb. problems?
Thanks in advance for any help, JOE
-----Answer-----
sounds like it could be?   check  firing if it is still there after it shuts down  maybe coil shorting out, due to age?  or mice under flywheel.

Engine is clear of any mice stuff etc...

you say .."check  firing if it is still there after it shuts down "

what exactly do you mean and how would I check that?

Answer
try starting it again.  adjust carb if needed.  as soon as it shuts down> pull plug,  and test for spark.  by a tester or ? by holding away from  block about 1/2 inch.
while turning it over.
if spark is gone> not there?  your coil is shot....  it begins working abit after it cools down again.  but will continue doing this.
