Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): tecumsah engine-no spark, bad hope, model numbers

Question
My old 5 hp snowblower (ACME, about 20 yrs old) went to sleep last spring with no problem.  Now I find there's no spark from the Tecumsah engine. A look-see shows a broken red wire on the magneto (?--over the flywheel) and an exposed wire (also red) probably both due to mice.  The broken wire seems to be a ground. I soldered it and taped the exposed wire, but no luck.  Any suggestions.

Answer
 Hello Herb:

The Model Numbers are Stamped into the Blower Housing(metal engine Cover) Over the Spark Plug or the Muffler. Send me the Model Numbers, Please. With these, I can Locate a Breakdown/IPL and Better Assist you. However, the Coil/Magneto is Grounded on 1 wire to the Engine and the Other Wire goes to the Shutoff Switch. If this has Contact Set Under the Flywheel, there will be a Wire Coming from Under the Flywheel that Attaches to the Coil/Magneto Wire that Goes to the Shutoff Switch. The Shutoff Switch Grounds the Coil Again and Stops the Coil/Magneto and Contact Set from Firing when in the Off Position. If this has Contact Set Under the Flywheel, they May need Replacing. The Condenser of the Contact Set May be Bad. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
