Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Cannot get john deere 16/32 hydro sabre lawn tractor to start, sectional index, lawn tractor

Question
I have a lawn tractor that has been sitting exposed to the elements for over a year.  I am trying to renovate this tractor and I cannot get it to start.  The motor will run for a short time when gas is poured into the carburetor, then quits.  Appears to be running out of gas.  The carburetor bowl fills up, but no running.  Is this a bad carburetor? What should I try next.

Answer
 Hello Tony:

Remove and Disassemble the Carburetor. Soak the Carburetor Overnight in Carburetor Cleaning Solution(I use Gunk) and then Blow Out the Passages with Compressed Air. Install New Kit. Soaking is the Only Way to Ensure the Carburetor is Varnish Free and Clean. You can View a Breakdown of the Mower at this Addy http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers. Then Select the Model in the Search Results Area. Then Select the Sectional Index. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
