Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): tecumeh HS40 runs for a few seconds., bike style, throttle cable

Question
I recently bought a mini bike at an auction. It came with a tecumseh HS40-55531G motor. The motor was out of a snow blower I think because it does not have an air filter. I can not get it to run, it will start & run for a few seconds then dies.
Also can I change it over to a mini-bike style carb? Because I think the linkage on this one is very jerry rigged (extra springs & stuff I think).

Answer
 Hello Isaac:

The Start and Quits is the Carburetor. Remove and Disassemble the Carburetor and Soak Overnight in Carburetor Cleaning Solution(I use Gunk). Then Blow Out the Passages with Compressed Air. Install New Kit. You can Hook the Throttle Cable to a Spring and the Spring to the Governor Arm and have the Throttle the Way it Should work. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Addy http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Click the T. at Select Tecumseh. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. Then Enter the Model Numbers HS40 and Click Go. The Download the Model and you can View the Breakdown/IPL Online. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
