i have a sears craftsman 48in gt 5000 about three years old maybe 400hrs it is blowing smoke thru the crankcase vent while there is a smeel i really can't idenify it same with color i have a hard time with that it does appear that the fuel shut off solenoid is not working properly also when i changed the oil smoke escaped from the crankcase while draining i do use water to clean the deck but i don't hose the engine  thanks  for your help

Answer
 Hello Mike:

Is the Crankcase Overfilled? If the Gas Shutoff Solenoid is Not Functioning Properly it can Cause the Engine to Flood while Not In Use. This will Allow the Gas to Enter the Crankcase. Does the Crankcase Oil Smell Like Gas? Thanks.

 Respectfully

 John
