Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): more about fuel line connections, walbro carb, craftsman weedwacker

Question
I am having problems similar to Gordon on a Craftsman Weedwacker Model 358.791510 with a walbro carb. A neighbor brought it to me and said it wouldn't run. First exam determined it had excess amount of oil in the mix and other fuel problems. I opened the carb to find the screen clogged with rust and crud, no kit is available for this unit so I ordered a new carb and replaced the fuel lines and pick-up filter. The machine ran great. A week later he returned with the machine and same complaint. Again, the mix contained excessive oil so I drained the tank and replaced with fresh fuel. The unit will start and run at half choke, but seems to starve out when the choke lever is flipped off. Can excessive oil harm the carb in some way or am I overlooking something. I'm not sure which connection is diaphram or fuel return so may have connected incorrectly.

Answer
 Hello Bill:

If the Oil to Gas Ratio was as Heavy with Oil as you Described, I Suggest you Disassemble the Carburator Just Enough to Clean and Blow Out the Oil. Very Seldom does Fuel Mix Flush Heavy Oil from the Carburator Ports. I have Disassembled a Many Caburator because Someone Put Oil in the Mix Tank and Mix in the Bar Oil Tank. If You think the Lines are Wrong Just Change them and See if it Helps. Look at the Carburator and you should be Able to see which Port is the Diaphram Side. It is the Larger of the 2 Sides. Have your Neighbor Lighten Up on the Oil. :-) Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.
