Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh cpt 460 p, walk behind mower, dipstick

Question
John

It is a "walk-behind mower" and there is no dipstick (or sightglass). The mower itself made by CGP Italy, machine s/n 5865701. It has the product names "Tecumseh cpt460p" and "Vantage 35 eco-tec". The motor has s/n 28350036 stamped on the base.

I think US and UK quarts are different - do yu now how many CC to a US quart ?

Many thanks

Matthew

Question -
I am purchased a Tecumseh cpt460p lawnmower in Belgium. It came without documentation (display model). I need to now how much oil to add to the engine before starting (and which grade would you recommend). The sticker on the engine also warns of a security brake - can you advise on how to operate this, please.

Answer -
 Hello Matthew:

The Oil to Use is SAE 30. I Use SAE 30 Mobile 1 Synthetic in all my Engines. Is there a Dipstick for this Engine? If Yes, the Dipstick is Marked. If No Dipstick, then the Engine is Filled to the Top of the Threads of the Oil Fill Port. Most Walk Behind Mower Engines use .75qt to .90qt to fill the Crankcase. The Larger Engines Use 1.50qts to 1.75qts Oil to Fill the Crankcase. Send me the Make and Model Numbers Off of the Mower and the Model, Type and Code Numbers Off of the Engine, Please. With these Numbers I May be Able to Locate a Breakdown/IPL for the Mower and ENgine and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Hello Matthew:

If there is No Dipstick, then the Crankcase is Filled to the Top of the Threads of the Oil Fill Port. This Engine Uses Approx 3/4qt. If you Fill the Crankcase to the Top of the Threads you will be Fine. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Thanks.
