Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Pullstring on a craftsman 6.5hp, plastic pulley, recoil starter

Question
My handle came off of the pullstring and the string has retracted all the way into the pulley. The problem is the assembly is riveted and I can't get the string out to reattach it to the handle. Can you help me on this.

            Thanks a Million,

Answer
 Hello Warren:

Send me the Model Numbers Off of the Engine, Please. With these Numbers I can Locate a Breakdown/IPL and Better Assist you. However, You must Remove the Blower Housing(Metal Engine Cover) that the Recoil Starter is Rivieted to from the Engine. Once the Housing is Removed from the Engine, Remove the Rope Completely from the Plastic Pulley. After the Rope is Removed, Turn the Plastic Pulley Towards the Hole the Rope Exits the Housing Through. When the Pulley can No Longer be Turned. Reverse the Pulley 2 Turns and Push the Rope Into the Hole in Plastic Pulley (near the center) and Out of the Pulley. Then Thread it Through the Hole in the Housing and Pull it Tight Against the Pulley. Tie a Slip Knot in the Rope to Hold the Pulley and Rope in Place while the Handle is Attached. Attach the Handle and then Remove the Slip Knot. The Rope should Retract into the Housing. Reinstall the Housing Onto the Engine and you are Done. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
