Question -
John,

I ran the lawn tractor again (with gas cap very loose) and it quit after 15-20 mins again. I checked for gas flwo again (no problem) and for spark. Last time I waited at least 20-30 min to check for spark. This time I checked right away and no spark at the plug. Does this point to iginition coil?
This is a Sears Canada Craftsman and the Model is 944.604250. In my manual there is an Ignition Module (12 584 01), would this be the ignition coil?

Thanks again,
Kurt

Question -
I have a 13 year old craftsman (944.604250) lawn tractor (15.5hp kohler) that just began quiting after about 15 minutes of running (once hot) and will not start again for some time. There is still spark at the plug and I changed the fuel filter. I noticed that fuel did drain from the fuel line before the fuel filter and so I ruled out the vapor lock idea at the tank. It will start again once it has cooled down and then run again for about 15 minutes before quiting.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

 Hello Curt:

You have Fire at the Plug when this Happens and You know the Gas Tank Cap is Venting the Tank. Check the Compression when this Happens. **BE CAREFULL WHEN DOING THIS. THEN ENGINE WILL BE HOT!!** Low Compression is the Only Cause for this Problem if there is Fire and Gas. If the Valve Lash Moves (and briggs and the other OEM's are having this Problem) the Valves will Not Close Properly when the Engine Gets Hot after about 15 to 20 minutes of Operation. The Same is True for the Gas Tank Cap Not Venting. It Takes about 15 to 20 Minutes at Full Throttle for a Vaccum to Form in the Tank and Prevent the Gas from Flowing Out of the Tank. The Coil/Ignition Module will Usually Heat Up in 15 to 20 Minutes and then Ground Out and Not Fire the Plug. Check the Model Numbers, Please. I cannot Locate this Model in My Manuals or Online. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Hello Curt:

Yes the Problem is the Ignition Module/Coil. Some Engines Have a Seperate Ignition Module and Some the Module is a Part of the Coil. Send me the Model Numbers Off of the Engine, Please. With these Numbers I can Locate a Breakdown/IPL and Better Assist you. Thanks.
