Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): craftsman riding mower, briggs and stratton, valve adjustments

Question
Hi.I have a 03 crafstman tractor. It's an 18 horse Briggs and Stratton...When it gets warm it dies  on me. I can still get it to idle after it dies while mowing, but if i give it any throttle it goes again....I took the spark plug out and had to clean it up a little and the tractor ran fine for a couple more weeks,,then started dying when warm. So I finally bought a new spark plug and it's still happening....Have any clues 4 me?    Thanks

Answer
 Hello Ed:

Check the Gas Tank Cap and Ensure the Cap is Venting the Tank Properly. The Valves May Require Adjusting. Briggs and the Other OEM's are having Problems with the Valve Adjustments Moving and having to be Reset on Several Models. If this Engine has the Fuel Shutoff Soleniod in the Bottom of the Carburator, it May be Bad also. Send me the Model, Type and Code Numbers Off of the Engine, Please. With these Numbers I can Locate a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
