Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Re: Rewire Task 9/23/06, pat cahill, amp meter

Question
Hello again John. Thanks you for your replies!
Here is what I am dealing with. The riding mower is
a '69 Simplicity Broadmoor 727. I am changing it from a generator to a stator (Briggs) 10 hp motor.
It aparently was hot wired at some point...the charging hasn't worked for ages, I've always had to
jump start it. As somple as it looks, I'm at a loss
and need your help. Here is the layout:
It has a 4 connector switch marked as follows:
top left D, top right S,
bottom (centered under D & S )is one marked B
bottom right C
It is equipped with an amp meter and as far as I can tell, it only has a safty switch on the neutral position of the trans shifter.
Could you please tell me how to rewire it with this configuration? I know it is isn't correct now
because the safety switch has both leads to the
ampmeter (one on each terminal) Isn't it supposed to be in series to the small starter selinoid
lead? I know I must sound like a dummy but, if
you can, I really need point to point directions!
Thanks for all your help again

Answer
 Hello Pat:

On the Ignition Switch the Bis Battery and S is Soleniod Most of the Time. One of the Remainding Post D or C Should be Grounded  when the Switch is in the Off Position. The S Post Should have Current Only when the Switch is Turned to the Spring Loaded Start Position and No Current when Released from the Spring Loaded Start Position. The B Post is Hot All the Time. The Meter should be Wired into the Charging System so the Current Going to the Battery Flows Through the Meter or you can Connect One Lead to the Hot Post of the Battery and the Other Post to the Negative Post of the Battery. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happesn, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
