Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Riding mower, oil pressure switch, craftsman riding mower

Question
I a have a 12-year old Craftsman riding mower.  The engine is a 14hp Kohler.  It consistently shuts off after mowing 2 to 3 minutes, then it won't start up again.  I can let it sit for a couple hours, starts right away, then again will shut off after 2-3 minutes of running.  It's almost like when the engine reaches a certain temparature it will shut off.

Would a bad carbureator solenoid have this effect?

Answer
Hi, Lets try  a couple of things! Check to see if your engine has a oil pressure switch? It will be a round object going into the block of the engine & it will have one or two wires pluged into it! This switch could be faulty! What it dose is if the oil pressure isn't high enough then it will shut the engine off. When the oil become hot it loses some pressure & it would shut it off.
If you donot have a O.P.S then after the engine shuts off check to see if ther is voltage going to the spark plugs after it shuts down! Take the spark plug out & stick it back in the plug wire Then turn the engine over & see if you see a spark at the end of the plug!
Let me know what happens! I'm very intrested in this one!!
