Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): fuel shutoff solonoid, needle jet, intek

Question
Having a hard time turning over my 18 hp b/s intek. found gas in the oil. checked fuel shut off solonoid with voltage checker, turns on and ogg with the key. pulled the seitch off the bowl, and watched it open and close. my question is these people that brought this to me has young sons that use this mower. do you think this could be a one time thing? I have changed the oil after draining the crankcase, and replacing oil filter(oil filter seal was eaten away by the gas/oil mix. I do not leave the gas line on while gone, for fear of it leaking by. like I SAID WATCHING  switch while apart seems to work fine. I guess im afraid to trust it. am I missing something?

thanks    wayne

Answer
Hi, sorry for the delay!
To me it sounds like fuel is going by the needle jet in the carb! Pull the jet out and make sure that there is not any dirt that is keeping the jet from seating properly! let me know what you find & we will go from there!
