Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 2 Cycle Weed eater Service, weed eater, exhaust port

Question
Hi,

I have a Weedeater 2 cycle engine that I can't get to start any more. It started out being harder than usual to start, then gradgually it would stall out while I was using it when it got down to about a 1/4 of a tank, then it would not start at all.  Once I got it to start after struggling for about 10 mins & left it on full choke for about 30 Secs, then it dies & won't start for a while again.

It is a Feather Lite 18CC Model, & a Feather lite LT1500 Blower that is starting to do the same thing. It wants to start but starts hard, then runs for a few mins, then slowly slows down & dies. It has plenty of gas, the correct misture & fresh mix. The weed eater started out that way, but now won't start at all or finally starts if I leave it on the full choke for about 20 sec's or so then dies.

Any help in getting the problems resolved in these units will be appreciated. they are about 5 years old or so.

Thanks,
Terry

Answer
 Hello Terry:

2 things. 1- Remove the Muffler and Check the Exhaust Port for Blockage. Check the Muffler and Spark Arrestor Screen for Blockage too. The Spark Arrestor Screen is in the Muffler. 2- If the Exhaust is Clear, then the Carburators need to be Cleaned and Rebuilt. You can Look up a Parts Breakdown for Both these Units at this Addy http://www.ordertree.com/poulan/ and in the Lower Right Corner Select the OEM Pouland/Weed Eater and Enter the Model Numbers. This will take you to a Search Results and then Double Click on your Model. This will Open a New Window for you to View a Breakdown. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
