Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 2003 huskee, mtd riding mower, variable speed pulley, couple teeth

Question
John, thanks for the info! I checked every thing that you recomended and while i was doing this i noticed that the detent shaft assembly was not engaging all the way. I adjusted the shift lever and it seemed to help a little, for a while, about 15 min. into it, it started doing it again i could hardly get up a small incline. I then tore down the transmision again to check the clutch collar, compression spring, detent ball, and the bevel gears there seems to be no wear on any of this. By the way everything you mentioned before seemed to be ok. Thank you! Brian.

Question -
It acts like the drive belt is slipping, but when it does it makes a clicking noise like its missing a couple teeth on one of the gears. I took the trasmission apart and all gears seem to be fine,(differential assembly, bevel gears,& the bevel pinion). I have also changed the lower drive belt and i still have the same problem. thank you very much in advance! Huskee Supreme LT. 23h.p. 46" cut. Transmission is a Automatic pedal drive with cruise. Model# 13bs608h131.

 Hello Brian:

You can View a Breakdown of this Mower at this Addy http://www.partstree.net/parts.asp and Click Parts Look up Box. Then Select the OEM(MTD) and enter the Model Number. Then Double Click on the Model in the Search Results Area. This will Open a New Window Showing the Different Sections of the Mower. Is the Key for the Transaxle Pulley Good? Is the Pulley Worn on the Inside, Allowing the Pulley to Jump Over the Key? Is the Variable Speed Pulley Moving Freely? Check the Idlers. A Bad Idler Bearing will Give the Clicking and Slipping Belt Problem. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. I enjoy knowing the Outcome. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Hello Brian:

A Shot in the Dark here. I have seen it Only Once Before, Check the Engine Pulley. My Father just Reminded me of a Problem Similar to this that I experienced about 14 yrs ago. The Pulley for the Transaxle Drive had Seperated and was Causing almost the Same Symptoms you have Described. I will go Over the Breakdown again and see if i May have missed anything. I will follow up to this Answer if I Notice anything. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require More Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.
