Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): K321 Kohler engine carburetor adjustment, air mixture, carter carburetor

Question
Hi Jonh, Thanks for taking time to view my question. I have an old Power King tractor which I am nearly done rebuilding and I have lost my book for adjusting the Carter carburetor on it's K321 Kohler engine. I'm not sure even which needle valve screw is which. There is one foward and one on the top. Can you tell me which is which and the proper proceedure to tune it? Thanks, Jeff.  Cinti, OH.

Answer
 Hello Jeff:

The One on Top is the Idle Air Mixture Screw and the Forward One Is the Main Jet Air Mixture Screw. Turn Both Screws Clockwise Until Seated. **DO NOT JAM** SNUG ONLY** Now turn them Back Counterclockwise 2 Turns. Start the Engine. Run the Engine Up to Full Throttle and Turn the High Air Mixture Screw 1/4 Turn at a Time Until the Engine Runs Smooth. Return the Throttle to Idle. Turn the Idle Air Mixture Screw Clockwise 1/4 Turn until there is No Hesitation when Throttling from Idle to Full Throttle. Then Set the Idle. If when you Start to Cut Grass, the Engine Lacks Power, Turn the High Speed Clockwise 1/16 turn at a Time Until the Engine has the Power Cutting Grass. Once you Understand How the Air Mixture Screws Effect the Engine, you can even Tweak the Carburator More. Hope this Helps. I am here to help if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. I enjoy knowing the Outcome. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
