Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs 42A707 erratic power, rough idle, murray mower, carburator

Question
John---I've got a Briggs twin (42A707, code 9701225A, type 1653-01) on a Murray mower.  The engine had not been used in 4-5 years when I got it.  Cleaned it, put in a set of rings.  The engine starts but runs erraticly and seems to be hurting for power and does not want to idle.  Adjusting the idle needle makes no difference.  I did not put a carburetor kit in it.  Do I need to go ahead and rebuild the carb?  Thanks.

Answer
 Hello Tom:

Soak the Carburator Overnight in Cleaning Solution(carburator cleaner) and then Blow Out all the Passages with Compressed Air. Soaking is the Only way to Remove the Varnish that the Gas has Formed Inside the Carburator. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. I enjoy knowing the Outcome. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
