Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): wiring and selenoid problem, safety switches, soleniod

Just bought older wizard riding mower has had safety switches removed now have a brown wire coming from switch i dont know where it goes! Can jump bottom posts on selenoid and motor turns is selenoid bad?   Any way to check selenoid? any help greatly appreciated!

How many small posts are on the solenoid?  One or two?

If it has 2 wires one is ground and the other is for 12 volts from the key switch when in the start position.

When the key is turned to the start position, 12 volts is applied to the soleniod exciter post, small post, which engages the solenoid and the start turns.
