Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Problems with the carborator on Craftsmans Eager 1 5.5 hp engine, craftsman eager 1, carborator

Question
The engine in question is a Craftsman Eager 1 5.5 hp engine. The only number I could find on it is 1438 45504 4025Al

I ran this lawn mower for about 5 minutes about a week ago after not having used it for seveal years. I went to use it about 5 days later and it ran poorly for about 3 to 5 minutes and they I could not run it any more.

I removed the carborator from a to clean it out. A needle valve on a tiny spring fell off when I removed the bowl on the bottom of the carborator. I think I put it back on correctly. However, I not very careful in observing where all the linkage connections from the carb to the engine go and I don't know how to put it back together. I have tried to start it without connecting the trottle but it does not run.

A diagram of the carb with all the parts labeled along with instructions on how to hook it back up would be wonderful. I would also appreciate any advice on what may be wrong with the engine/carb. The only thing I did between the time it ran and now is to add gasoline to the tank and check the oil level. The oil level was good and the gas is less than a month old.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Answer
 Hello Jeff:

Did you Soak the Carburator Overnight in Cleaning Solution(carburator cleaner)? Then Blow the Passages Out with Compressed Air. Send me the Sears Model Number Off of the Mower, Please. The Numbers you gave me for the Engine are Incomplete. I may be Able to Locate a Breakdown for you to View Online. Hope this Helps.

 Respectfully

 John
