Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman Tractor no spark, electric clutch, tractor model

Question
Hi,

Craftsman Tractor Model#917.273634
Briggs motor 18.5HP 31P777 Type #0348-E1
2004 Model

Was and has always run great. Turned it off and now won't start.

Checked spark with the "flash type" tool. It's getting no spark. Bypassed the seat safety switch and the electric clutch switch. Still no spark.

Also replaced plug. Checked all wires to make sure they were tight. Turns over with no problem.

Could it be the soliniod? What am I missing?

Thanks

Dan

Answer
 Hello Dan:

Disconnect the Coil/Ignition Module Shutoff Wire. Check for Spark. If No Spark, then the Coil/Ignition Module is Bad. If Spark, then a Safety Switch, the Ignition Switch  or Bad Wire is Preventing Spark. You can View a Breakdown of the Mower at this Addy http://www3.sears.com/ and Click on the Box for Lawn Equipment. Then Follow the Instructions to the View Parts List/View Diagram Page. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. I enjoy knowing the Outcome. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
