Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman 18.5 Briggs wont start, briggs and straton, craftsman lawn tractor

Question
I have a Craftsman Lawn Tractor with an 18.5 Briggs and Straton Ivec Double Overhead cam Engine. It's only about 2 years old. I recently ran out of gas for the first time and now I cannot get it to run again. I can sometimes get it started but it will not rum at full trottle. It seems like it is starving for gas. From tank to carberator it seems to be getting gas and the vaccum fuel pump seems to be working also. The in line fuel filter was removed and I blew in it and it has a good air flow. The two wires that are plugged into the bowl of the carberator are working the needle valve at the bottom of the carb. bowl like it should. The choke and the throttle cable are all working properly and the there is no sign of water in the fuel. I'm at a lost, what's the problem?

Answer
 Hello Blane:

From your Description I Suggest you Clean and Rebuild the Carburator. The Carburator has Picked Up Trash in the Main Jet. The Varnish that Gas Forms over Time  has Restricted the Gas Flow to the Main Jet. When the Engine Ran Out of Gas, it Picked up Sediment out of the Carburator Bowl and Lodged it in the Passages Leading to the Main Jet. Soak the Carburator Overnight in Cleaning Solution and then Blow Out All the Passages with Compressed Air. Hope this Helps. Let me kmow what Happens, Please. I enjoy knowing the Outcome. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
