Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B&s 6.5 mower, carburator, throttle control

Question
Hello, I have a troy bilt self proppeled mower that won't stay running. I have put a new carb float and gaskets, new fuel line and new plug. When I try to start it it will start if i shoot a little fuel in the carb or prime it about 20 times, but it starts then quits. It does not have a throttle control it has a lever on the hanlde you hold down to start. The spring on the flap on the carb when it starts pulls and then stops I have tried to hold  the flap open but it does not help. It is like it is not getting any fuel.
Any help would appreciated. Thanks Ray

Answer
 Hello Ray:

From your Description I Suggest you Clean and Rebuild the Carburator. Soak the Carburator Overnight in Cleaning Solution and Then Blow Out All Passages with Compressed Air. The Varnish the Gas Forms over Time is Restricting the Gas Flow to the Engine. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. I enjoy knowing the Outcome. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
