Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): craftsman 4cyl weedeater, grounding wire, starter fluid

Question
i have a craftsman 4 cycle weedeater it is about one year old.  i was using it the other day and it just died like it was out of gas but it had almost a full tank.  i check for gas and spark i had both but it will not fire.  i got a new spark plug thinking that maybe it had a week spark and still no go.  the original plug was a champion RDJ7Y  i replaced it with a champion DJ7Y.  would that make a diffrence or do i have a bigger problem.

Answer
 Hello Dace:

Check the Fire at the Plug. Remove the Plug and Wrap a Grounding Wire Around the Threads. Attach the Other end of the Grounding Wire to the Engine. Does the Plug Spark? If No, then Disconnect the Shutoff Switch. Does the Plug Spark? If Yes, then the Switch or the Wires are Bad. Try Starting the trimmer with Starter Fluid. If it Runs and Quits, then the Carburator has Picked up Trash/Water and needs to be Cleaned and Rebuilt. Send me the Make, Model, Type and Code Numbers Off of the Engine, Please. With these Numbers I can Locate a Breakdown of the Trimmer and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. I enjoy knowing the Outcome. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
