Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): No Start = FUEL, craftsman riding mower, carburator

Question
Kohler Magnum 19.5
MV 20S
Spec.57529
770 Disp.
2515055146

This engine is on a Craftsman riding mower
917.250520
061295C 003816

It is not getting fuel to the carb.
I have checked everything up to the fuel pump, and no problems.
It will start by spraying gas directly into the carb.
My guess would be the pump, because there is no fuel after that.

My BIG question is how to check if the pump is working properly, i.e. diaphram, check valves.
I took the pumps cover off an the diaphram does move back & forth, but after that I'm stuck.
I used the mower to cut the lawn parked it then went to use again & would not start.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank You

Answer
 Hello John:

If you have Gas to the Pump and you Remove the Fuel line from the Carburator and the Pump Isnt Pushing Fuel to the Carburator, then Either the Diaphram has a Pin Hole in it or the Check Valve in the Fuel Pump is Stuck Open. Replace the Pump. You can View a Breakdown of the Engine and All the Engine Components at this Addy http://www.partstree.net/parts.asp and Click Parts Look up. Then Select the OEM(Kohler Engines) and Enter the Model Number. Then Double Click on the Model that shows in the Search Results. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. I enjoy knowing the Outcome. Thanks.

 Good Luck
