Question -
In a moment of forsight and efficiency, I purchased oil for our Craftman 6.5hp, 21in., 3-in-1 rear mulching mower. This model also has the auto-propel feature and a Briggs & Stratton engine.

Thinking I was a lawn mower goddess, I added the ENTIRE bottle of oil to the engine. The mower worked well after this addition, but fared poorly when I tried to use it yesterday. It was then I realized that I had added perhaps 5 times the necessary amount of oil (roughly 20oz). The mower spewed some white smoke out the side, sputtered, and has not started even after I removed most of the oil. In fact, it appears to be dripping a very slight amount of oil.

I know, stupid. I just thought, well, if it holds all of the oil, it must need all of the oil. I made this smart move, even after reading the dipstick.

So, the question is, can this mower be repaired for a price less than a new mower? Or, is there something else we can try before pursuing repair?

Oh boy,
Stacey

 Hello Stacy:

As a Lawnmower Goddess (lol) you should have no Problem doing this. Remove the Spark Plug and Replace it with a New One. Make sure the Oil Level is at a Proper Level. If the Mower will Not Start, then Send me the Make, Model, Type and Code Numbers, Please. With these I can Locate a Breakdown for you to View Online. You May have to Clean the Crankcase Vent of Oil. The Breakdown will Assist in this. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. I enjoy knowing the Outcome. Thanks

 Good Luck
