I can get the mower started but as soon as I get to the grass and start to cut it the mower dies. It then takes a long time to get the mower restarted. It is a 6.5hp Quantum 12000 series briggs&stratton engine.

Hi Randy,

I suspect that the engine is starving for fuel when the load is placed on it as you start to mow.  Remove the float bowl and check it for dirt which may be restricting the fuel flow.  Also check the float's needle and seat and fuel filter if equipped.
