Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawn Mower cutting height, discharge chute, spark plug wire

Question
I have a craftsman push mower, model 917.377593. I do not have an owner's manual for it (it was left with the house when I bought it). I can adjust the cutting height, but I do not know the cutting length range for how low it cuts. I was wondering if you could tell me what the min and max cutting heights are (i.e. 1 to 4 inches (for example)), and how much each notch raise the height. Any information that you have would be extremely helpful.

Best regards,

Brad

Answer
Hi Brad,

Different mowers vary.  The best way to get your heights is to remove the spark plug wire and with the mower on a flat floor, measure the blade height from the floor.  You can access this at the discharge chute.  Take a measurement at each wheel setting.

Good luck.
