Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Vanguad 18HP V-Twin only one cylinder runs, briggs and stratton, george briggs

Question
Briggs and Stratton Vanguard 18HP V-Twin Model # 35077 Type 0117...Sudden loss of power...increased vibration...right valve cover cool after brief operation while left cover warm to touch...I changed the plugs pulled plug on right cylinder and cranked starter engine started but no spark on right plug.I tried to remove the bolts from the fan cover to get the engine shroud removed to check wiring but the small bolts appeared stripped and not backing out. I need to get the fan off to eventually check the wiring....any suggestions? Thanks in advance....George

Answer
 Hello George:

Briggs Doesnt Offer the Online Illustrated Parts Breakdown for this Engine. If this is the Engine that has 2 Coils, then Disconnect the Shutoff Wire from the Suspect Coil and see if there is Fire. If there is Fire, then Look for a Bad Wire to the Coil. You can take a Screwdriver and Place it Under the Shroud Near the Bolt and Apply a Small Amount of Pressure to the Shroud to Help Remove the Bolt. Also if the Coil Isnt the Problem, then Check the Rocker Arm and Valves on the Dead Cylinder. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. I enjoy knowing the Outcome. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
