Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman Riding Lawn Tractor Dies, briggs and stratton, seat safety

Question
Craftsman 42" 6 Speed Lawn Tractor
15.5 HP OPV
Briggs and Stratton TurboCool
Model 917.258470
S/N 101796D    002407

Engine
Model - 28N707
Type - 0173-01
Code - 961014ZE

System starts normally (and powerfully).
Then when letting out the clutch/brake the
engine dies. Before the engine dies if the pedal is again depressed then the engine revs normally again. All connections appear to be tight (disconnected and reconnected all of them). Purchased used 2 months ago and this is the only real problem we have encountered. Otherwise, what a powerful mower :)  A friend thinks that it might be one of the safety switches (sort of acts like this) but for the life of me I am unable to find the fix :(

Answer
 Hello Brent:

From your Description the Seat Safety Switch is Bad or the Clutch/Brake Linkage is Rubbing the Harness and Grounding out the Harness and the Engine. Jumper the Seat Safety Switch and Then try to Operate the Mower. If that isnt the Problem, then Remove the Cutter Deck and Have Someone Operate the Clutch/Brake while you Watch and Look for where the Linkage is Hitting the Harness. You can View a Breakdown Including the Harness at this Addy http://www3.sears.com/ Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. I enjoy knowing the Outcome. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
