Question -
i have a older craftsman ridding mower and i put a new magneto on it yesterday. now i have no spark. i think i have a wire or two mixed up. i also had to take the throttle cable off to get the cover and the balancer off, starter gear. im going to try and set the gap agian but i dont think that will fix it. i dont know what modle the motor is or the size of the motor. if u could help me out i would appriate it greatly.

Hello Todd:
The Model Numbers of the Engine Are Stamped into the Metal Engine Cover, usually Above the Spark Plug Hole. The Coil is Gapped at .020in. The 1 Wire on the Coil is for the Shutoff. It Grounds the Coil and Stops the Coil from Firing. It MAy be Attached to the Throttle Control Plate on the Engine or May go Straight to the Ignition Switch. Look for the Model Numbers and Send them, Please. With the Numbers I can get an Online Breakdown for you to View. This May Assist you in this Repair. Hope this Helps. Go to this Addy http://shop.briggsandstratton.com/BShopProductListingPage.asp?rsvp=0&PARENTID=0& and Enter the Model Numbers 220707 and the Type Numbers 0140. On the Next Page, Scroll Down to the 2nd Item and Click View PDF. This will Download the Breakdown of the Engine. With this Breakdown you can make sure you have the Coil Properly Wired. ***Well, I see the Problem Now.*** This is one of the Models with a Point Set.*** This is Why no Fire.*** Replace the Point Set Under the Flywheel. The Breakdown is Page 5 of 11 and the Item Number is 339, 340, and 343. Number 339 is the Point Set Complete. If you need Instructions on the Point Set replacement, Just let me know. Hope this Helps.
