Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsmen 6.5 Self-Propelled Mulching Mower, starter fluid, carburator

Question
Hi - our lawnmower won't start.  We recently had the blade sharpened and today after we put it back on it won't start.  It is only a few years old.  The air filter is covered in oil and at one time there was oil dripping out directly below the air filter. I thought this might be a result of having the mower upside down while putting the blade back on.  Anyhow, the mower tries to start but there is no "spark" the plug looks OK but what do I know? It will not start with the key or the pullstart.  PLEASE HELP!!!

Answer
 Hello Kiley:

Clean the Oil from the Air Filter. Check the Oil Level and Ensure it is Still Correct. It May take a Few Times, just Spray a Small Amount of Starter Fluid into the Carburator And Start the Engine. Do this Until it Starts and Runs or After the 7th or 8th Time, Stop. If it Isnt Running Now, Clean and Rebuild the Carburator. Never Turn a Lawn Mower Engine Anyway Except with the Spark Plug Facing the Sky. Any Other Way and the Crankcase Vent Gets Flooded with Oil and Wont Work for a Short Time. Hince the Oil in the Air Filter and in the Carburator. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
