Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): hydrostatic transmission problem, hydrostatic transmission, hp motor

Question
I have a toro riding lawn mower model # 71192. It is a 15.5 hp motor with a hydrostatic transmission. The engine runs great but it doesn't go very fast at all. It basically moves about the same speed as if you were in 2nd or 3rd gear on a manual transmission mower. Is the transmission worn out or could it be a matter of replacing the belt. Thanks in advance for any advice you might have.

Answer
 Hello Michael:

The Belt May be the Problem. Also Check the Linkage and Make Sure it is Not Loose or Bent. On the Transaxle Housing there is a Plate that has the Manufacturers Name and the Model Numbers. If the Above items Dont Correct the Problem, Send me the Information Off of this Tag, Please. With these Numbers I can View a Breakdown of the Transaxle and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
