Question -
My mother's 2001 Sabre lawn tractor's engine starting racing while she was mowing with it.  She says the engine is running faster than the fast throttle position runs.  As she is 3 hours away, I am looking for suggestions on where to start troubleshooting when I get there.  She says it still starts fine but the engine is running too fast and the throttle lever does nothing.

 Hello Gary:

The Governor Control Spring May have Broken. If the Throttle Control Does Not Do Anything, then this is the First thing to Look at. Send me the Model Numbers Off of the Engine(on the metal engine cover) and I May be Able to Locate a Dreakdown that you can View to Assist you in Locating the Spring I am Speaking of. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

Scroll down to the Number 40 and Click on it. Then Scroll Down to 406700 Series and Click. This will Download a Breakdown of the Engine. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.
