Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B&S Vanguard on a Cub Cadet Model 2160, cub cadet, stator

Question
Battery is not charging.  All connections and fuses seem fine.  No continuity through the diode assembly.  When key is on, battery voltage goes to about 7...otherwise is fine.  How do I check the alternator and find out what is draining the battery?

Answer
 Hello Nancy:

Check the Battery for a Dead/Weak Cell. The Battery should Read 11.8VDC to 12.5VDC. When the Engine is Running at Full Throttle, the BAttery should Read Between 12.8VDC and 13.5VDC or Higher. Not Over 14.5VDC Charging. It Sounds like the Battery has a Dead or Weak Cell in it. This Engine has a 16Amp Stator and a Regulator Unplug the Regulator and Check the Current from the Stator. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
