Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): tl133 john deere fuel pump, engine test, fuel pump

Question
There is no fuel flowing through the fuel filter I have half a tank of fuel, how do i get it running, it cranks, just does not kick over, I do have a spark.

Hi Mark,

First, test the fuel lines and tank to be sure that they are flowing freely.  Next, test the fuel pump if equipped.  Most are vacuum operated.  Finally if you have fuel to the carb, it may not be getting to the engine.  Test this by squirting fuel or starting fluid into the carb's air intake to see if the engine will run.  If so, I would suspect a dirty or gummed carb.
