Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): clutch installment., briggs straton engine, www google com

Question
me and my father are trying to build a go-kart from a 3.75 hp 22" briggs & straton engine. we got the engine to start but we need a way to make the engine idle while i get on as it is already started, my father suggested a clutch. since I know very little about clutches i was wondering if you could help. how do you install the clutch? where can i find one? are they expensive?

sincerily, Mr. Anonymous.

Answer
Hi Mr. A,

Has many kart parts including clutches for $40.  A clutch would attach to the engine's crankshaft and allow the engine to run without driving the drive chain or drive belt until the engine is reved.

A search at:

Good luck,
